Summary
This book integratesthe theory and practice of distributed operating systems andalgorithms. It combines coverage of distributed operating systemsand distributed algorithms, allowing instructors to cover thealgorithms involved in distributed operating systems with optionaldepth as desired and motivate the study of distributed algorithmsby showing how they are applied in operating systems. Currently allbooks treat these as separate topics. This text includes coverageof parallel systems, distributed systems, real-time systems, computer networks and algorithms for asynchronous distributedsystems, and uses examples from many commercial and experimentaloperating systems. Included in the book are a number of programmingprojects.
